When I saw the new video of sheep that had been exported from Australia being killed in Jordan, I felt sick to my stomach. The video shows terrified sheep, some of whom are clearly too weak to stand, being dragged out of pens by their hind legs or tails and beaten severely before their throats are slashed. Children throw rocks at them as they shake in fear; they slip in pools of blood and scream as they try to get away from the men murdering them.
The Australian government says that animals that are exported live from the country are treated humanely -- does this sound humane to you?
We already knew that the live export of farm animals from the country was a risk to animals as they travelled. But now we have proof that once the animals get to their destination, at least some will be slaughtered in the most horrifying way possible. How much more cruelty will we take?
It's time for us to stand against this abuse once and for all. Sign the petition to hold these sheep killers accountable for their actions and stop live export in Australia.
